De Anza Elementary is a STEAM school in which we have a unique focus on including rigorous learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. The goal of STEAM education is to better prepare our students for college and career opportunities especially related to these fields.
De Anza students in grades K-3rd will be participating in a STEAM unit based on the Next Generation Science Standards approximately every 4-6 weeks. Students in the 4th and 5th grades will be participating in a STEAM block for 50 minutes Monday-Thursday. During this time, they will engage in rigorous reading and hands-on learning of the Next Generation Science Standards. These students will demonstrate their learning of the concepts by creating a project related to the content they have learned. Each 4th and 5th grader will rotate through the 4 teachers in the grade level once during the year to learn the different standards.
